Experts honoured at Christie research and education awards

A special ceremony has been held to acknowledge
experts from The Christie's research division and school of
oncology.
120 people attended the inaugural Christie
Research and Education Awards which also highlighted key
developments to date and included presentations on forthcoming
projects.
Chief Executive Caroline Shaw and Chairman Lord Keith
Bradley spoke at the event about the importance of research and
education in The Christie's role as a specialist cancer centre and
how its work impacts across the globe.

At the event an appeal was also launched to expand The
Christie's school of oncology, which is the first of its kind in
the UK. The school brings
togetherundergraduate education,
clinicalprofessional and medical
educationand The Christie's learning and
developmentfunctions into one
structure.
The £1 million appeal will able the school to host more
meetings, study days and conferences and enhance its reputation as
a leader in cancer education. There were also presentations
about the Manchester Cancer Research Centre which will impact on
cancer research across the world.
