Landmark consultation launch for Europe’s largest cancer centre
Press Release Posted 29 September 2011
The Christie has launched a ground-breaking
consultation to ask the public for their views on what the leading
cancer centre should be doing in the year 2020.
The 11-week consultation, called the 20:20 Vision, will run
until 16th December 2011. During that time, The
Christie's key stakeholders, from patients, staff, to chief
executives of other NHS organisations, are encouraged to give their
opinions and help shape the future of Europe's largest cancer
centre.
The ambitious consultation, which is in response to NHS changes,
could revolutionise how The Christie provides services to cancer
patients. Following the consultation the 20:20 Vision strategy will
be launched on Monday 2nd April 2012.
Caroline Shaw, chief executive at The Christie said; "The future
offers many challenges but also opportunities for NHS
organisations. We therefore want to develop a strong strategy
to further develop services for cancer patients and want people's
views. We want to know how they would like to see The
Christie in 2020 and hope that everyone participates in this
important consultation."
People will be asked a set of questions relating to The Christie
and potential additional services provided by The Christie, such as
'If you needed to be treated for cancer, what would improve your
experience at The Christie whilst you were a patient?' and 'Would
you want the opportunity to go on a patient trial where new
treatments are being offered?'.
If you would like to be part of the Christie's 20:20 Vision
consultation, please complete a questionnaire by visiting www.christie.nhs.uk. The
public can also give their feedback via suggestion boxes and a
video booth on the hospital's main site.
